Cell Neurobiology and Molecular Chemistry in Central Nervous System

Research interest

We are involved in the study of processes related to normal and pathological brain aging, approaching it from a morphological, analytical and technological perspective. The group is composed by researchers specialised in different fields of knowledge:

  • Neuroanatomy for determining neuroactive molecules and their changes along aging processes by using immunohistochemistry.
  • Development of new analytical methodologies for the determination in biological samples of compounds involved in pathological aging by hybrid separation processes and mass-spectroscopy.
  • Development of dietary interventions with biological active compounds from food source, food subproducts and nutraceutics for diminishing the consequences of pathological aging in the brain.
  • Development of novel Nanotechnology-based therapies for improving both the administration and absorption of nutraceutics, with application in biomedicine for the improvement and/or slowdown of brain aging processes.
